Formel-2-Test: Mick Schumacher verpasst Bestzeit nur knapp

Prema-Pilot Mick Schumacher kommt in Fahrt in der Formel 2: Am zweiten Testtag in Abu Dhabi belegte der aktuelle Formel-3-Europameister knapp geschlagen den zweiten Platz. Mit 1:50.166 Minuten erzielte Schumacher die bisher drittbeste Zeit der Testwoche und blieb damit nur 0,208 Sekunden hinter Juan Manuel Correa (Charouz) zurück.

Es ist der erste Fingerzeig von Schumacher in der Rennserie, die er 2019 im Formel-1-Rahmenprogramm bestreiten wird: In den vorangegangenen Testeinheiten – seinen ersten in einem Formel-2-Fahrzeug – ab Donnerstag hatte der 19-Jährige die Positionen 19, zwölf und erneut 19 belegt, ehe ihm am Freitagabend seine persönliche Bestleistung gelang. Damit führte Schumacher sogar kurzzeitig das Klassement an, doch Correa unterbot Schumachers Zeit am Ende noch.

Mit 1:49.958 Minuten war Charouz-Fahrer Correa zudem hauchdünn schneller als Louis Deletraz (Carlin), der am Donnerstag mit 1:49.984 Minuten die bisherige Wochenbestzeit markiert hatte. Luca Ghiotto (Russian Time), dessen persönliche Bestleistung noch knapp unter Schumachers Zeit liegt, belegte am Freitag den dritten Tagesrang vor Sergio Sette Camara (DAMS) und Nobuharu Matsushita (Carlin). Der Schweizer Deletraz kam dieses Mal auf Position sieben.

Die Formel-2-Testfahrten in Abu Dhabi werden am Samstag fortgesetzt.
