Mugen bestätigt Pierre Gasly für die Super-Formula-Saison 2017
Honda hat bestätigt, dass Red-Bull-Zögling Pierre Gasly 2017 für Mugen in der japanischen Super Formula antreten wird.

Motorsport.com berichtete bereits Ende des vergangenen Jahres, dass Red Bull für Pierre Gasly einen Platz in der Super Formula suchen wolle. Damals gab es noch Verhandlungen mit Toyota, nun bestätigte Honda, dass der GP2-Champion 2016 neben Naoki Yamamoto für das Team Mugen in der Super Formula antreten werde.
Ebenfalls für Honda am Start sein wird auch der ehemalige Formel-1-Pilot Narain Kartikeyan, der als Teamkollege von Daisuke Nakajima für Nakajima Racing starten wird. Der Inder ersetzt den Belgier Bertrand Baguette, der sich 2017 ausschließlich auf die Super GT konzentrieren wird.
Die Nachfolge des McLaren-Neuzugangs Stoffel Vandoorne bei Docomo Dandelion tritt Takuya Izawa an, der von Real Racing gewechselt hat und Teamkollege von Tomoki Nojiri wird. Real Racing setzt 2017 nur noch ein Auto für Koudai Tsukakoshi ein.
